PANMA Listserv Guidelines

Welcome to the PANMA-TALK listserv, serving the PANMA community. The list moms are Nate Gasser and John Wilson. You can contact them using our contact form

There are some simple guidelines to remember when interacting on this list.

PROFESSIONALISM
This is a listserv for the professional new media community. This list has a large and varied subscriber list, and a certain degree of professionalism should be used when determining what to send to the list and how to respond to posts. Please consider that many people will be reading what you post. You may not agree with what they have to say, and they may disagree with your opinions.

PROFANITY
Please use good judgment when adding profanity to your posts. If it seems to be getting out of hand, the list moms will indicate to the users in question that they should monitor their choice of words.

FLAMING
If you find a post that you disagree with, please do not use the list as a method of insulting or degrading another member. This listserv is intended for and educated exchange of ideas and thoughts and the PANMA list moms find it hard to qualify flaming as such. If you must be puerile, please send your comments to the person directly and not via the listserv.

SPAMMING
This list is intended as a forum for discussing topics of interest to the new media community. It is not an advertising engine. Use discretion posting information regarding products, services and other sales information. If you are uncertain, send a draft to the PANMA list moms for approval before you post.

COMPLAINTS
If you believe a post has been sent outside the above guidelines, do not send posts of this nature to the listserv. Send a personal e-mail to one of the list moms requesting action. The list current moms are Nate Gasser and John Wilson.

UNSUBSCRIPTION REQUESTS
To be removed from the list, use the interface provided at www.panma.org/listserve.html. Please do not send posts of this nature to the listserv.

ACTIONS TAKEN FOR "OUTSIDE THE GUIDELINES" POSTS

  • A personal message to the offender indicating that he or she will need to use more discretion when posting.
  • A public message to the listserv requesting more professionalism.
  • A public warning.
  • Removal from the list accompanied with a public notice of removal.

CONCLUSION
Thank you for using this listserv. It is our hope that within these guidelines, the listserv will remain a vital service for the PANMA community. These guidelines may be amended at any time.

Sincerely, the list moms:
Nate Gasser
John Wilson
