We are building a software-a-service solution that will let individuals, businesses, non-profits, and government customers perform tasks more easily than they can today using existing methods. If after you read the job description you think you might be a fit, get a hold of us, and we’ll tell you more about what we’re doing, we just don’t want to spill all the beans in this public forum.

We’re Philadelphia-based + looking for a coder who we can meet with in-person, at least periodically. You can code wherever you want, but you must be able to get to South Street in Philadelphia at least periodically, or be within a short commute of Philly so we can meet somewhere nearby.

As a coder for key product functionality, you’ll be working to translate customer needs into working product.

If this sounds of interest to you, contact us at engineering @ newcityhall.com and we’d love to tell you more about what we’re working on.

You’ll be developing various parts of the product, working with a few other developers. You’ll be working from complete specs, a complete visual design, and a fully fleshed-out development environment to write the code necessary to deliver the offering as intended.

Experience

- individuals only (sorry – no agencies or staff aggregators please)

Skills
- significant experience writing javascript/Jquery and knowledge of how to translate complex functionality into functional code
- specific experience implementing drag-and-drop functionality with Javascript and AJAX
- a passion for correctness and quality; meeting customers’ functionality expectations is critical
- experience working with CSS3, HTML5

You’ll also need:
- a really strong sense of well implemented user experience; we believe the user experience will define our success and we need an engineer who will work with our designers and product people
- confidence in your technical abilities
- experience coding on your own and as part of a team
- working in early-stage startups and experience with Web application development preferred
- the ability to scope projects – you’ll need to have scoped a project and delivered on time (or pretty darn close) against a project plan that you defined
