Temple University’s Creative Services department has an opening for a full-time Web Developer (TU-13536) to join the Web Communications team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a talented group of designers, marketers and technicians at a major urban research university.
Job Qualifications:
The Web Developer will interact with content authors, editors, project managers, and technology staff in designing, developing and maintaining high quality electronic products such as web sites, e-mail newsletters, e-mail marketing messages, and other digital media. In addition, the Web Developer will be responsible for: enhancing and maintaining Temple.edu web site and all related links; contributing to the structure and development of Temple.edu pages; performing periodic maintenance as requested on any Temple-owned web site including editing content, formatting and posting text, and updating graphics and flash presentations; working directly with department heads and clients to develop or redesign professional looking web sites aligning with Temple University’s brand; and developing and maintaining comprehensive tracking reports to monitor web activities. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in web development, interactive media, graphic design, or another related field and at least one year directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Experience developing and managing Internet services or electronic content.
- Thorough knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, XHTML, SQL, Flash, Actionscript, Dreamweaver, Contribute, Photoshop, Illustrator and content management systems
- Experience in web design, email marketing messages and e-newsletter design
- Ability to work collaboratively and educate colleagues and clients on best practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- An online portfolio exhibiting strong visual abilities-typography, layout and color.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with streaming media, video/audio and podcast production and editing.
- Flash programming experience.
- Knowledge of UNIX and dynamic web application framework preferably in a Linux environment.
- Experience with content management systems such as Drupal and WordPress.
