PHP Developer Needed

Small software company seeking programmer for web-based, software application development. In operation and development for 1.5-years, the software’s primary function is an online report writing tool, aiding customers in report generation and project management. We are seeking a developer who can work for a minimum 25+ hours per week, for immediate, and possibly long-term, freelance. Future full-time position possible. Telecommuting okay, but regular face-to-face meetings in Bucks County, PA (at least once a week) are required.

Qualified candidates would demonstrate high-level proficiency in the following:

As a Website Front End Designer Developer, your main responsibility is for the design, production, modification and maintenance of websites and web application’s user interfaces.

Candidate must have practical web design experience and produce cutting edge designs. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of industry standard design tools and show examples of their work and knowledge including exposure to publishing on the Web and in Portal environments.

The Free Library of Philadelphia is seeking a full time, temporary Web Developer to program, test, and document web applications for the Library’s public website and intranet.

Job Description and Requirements

The person in this position will create and maintain static web pages, dynamic programmed applications, templates, and stylesheets, and will also perform database modeling, analysis, and design for web-enabled database applications. The ability to work closely with internal staff to gather and organize requirements, manage and resolve problems, develop prototypes, test and debug, and perform systems analysis is a significant aspect of the position. The person in this position will work as part of a team with a web editor, graphic designer, and other developers to plan and develop new applications for the Library website.

Candidates should be facile with the application and techniques of programming in a variety of web-based languages; experience with ColdFusion or similar tag-based server scripting languages is preferred. PHP skills are also an advantage. Candidates should have knowledge of project management for software and hardware development and maintenance; documentation procedures (including formal testing, quality control, and certification); site technical design and graphics as they interface with application functionality, website content management; and general networking concepts. An interest in new software packages, including proprietary, open source, and commercial languages is also desirable. As is the ability to manage multiple projects and relationships with internal and external customers; complete work within the confines of a time schedule; and present ideas clearly both orally and in writing.

Candidates with a degree in library and information science and/or experience working in a library setting are particularly encouraged to apply. The ability to learn digital image collection management (specification process, oversight, database design and management, data input and interface design and maintenance, and the software associated with these tasks) and achieve familiarity with library cataloging practices and conventions will increase job satisfaction.

Project/Technical Manager

We are looking for someone with strong working knowledge of project and/or technical management to join our growing company as a Project Manager. This full-time position will report to the Sr. Project Manager, and will work extremely closely with our entire team.

Responsibilities will include:
- monitor and report daily on project statuses and estimates as well as employee time tracking and performance
- allocate resources in collaboration with PM staff to ensure a smooth workflow
- act as first line of communication with clients
- maintain client relationships
- monitor and facilitate Sr. Developer communication and help to prioritize client responses
- take part in daily “stand-up meetings”, including keeping good notes
- keep track of RFPs we receive, proposals we are working on, and responses from potential clients

Who we are:
Zivtech is a four-year-old Open Source web development company located in Philadelphia, PA. We specialize in building robust interactive websites and online applications using Drupal, a Content Management System & Development Framework, and various other Open Source web technologies. Our services include site architecture, site building, design, theming, training, deployment, & site migrations. In addition, we love to help build the Drupal community and so we promote Drupal at various events, and train all levels of users and developers, either in our classes or in individual client trainings.

How we work:
Most of the 20 people at Zivtech work at our Philadelphia offices, though we have a couple of people who work remotely. Our offices are currently located at 32 Strawberry Street in Old City, but we are soon moving to The Philadelphia Building, at 1315 Walnut St. We work in an “Agile” fashion when we can, and we have a tight knit team of developers and designers who take on different roles for different projects as needed. While our work can be pretty intense, we try to maintain a fun and comfortable work environment.
