Just need a little help converting DVD video to FLV clips

March 18th, 2010

Location: Wynnewood, PA

I have a small project I need someone to handle for me ASAP…

Basically, I have three separate DVDs and one CD-Rom, and I need to pull one video clip off of each of the four discs. The clips range in length from 30 seconds to 3.5 minutes. Each clip has to begin with a fade up from black and end with a fade out to black. Each clip has to wind up as an FLV file. All four of the FLV clips have to wind up on one DVD.

If you would like to do the project, let me know when you’re available and what your fee would be. Thanks!

Web Developer (.NET)

March 16th, 2010

Location: King of Prussia

The Active Network, Inc. provides technology applications and marketing services to community service organizations worldwide and has earned a reputation as a leading online destination for active lifestyles. The company’s application services help organizations reduce the cost and complexity of managing community activities and fundraising events. Its marketing services offer integrated online and field marketing campaigns that help brands develop authentic relationships with active consumers. Its consumer properties offer a comprehensive destination for the active lifestyle.

You’ve spent the last few years learning how to develop software within an organization and understand that a software developer’s prime directive is to develop features that add value to the business. Most of your experience is in developing .NET based web applications in C#. But you realize that Microsoft is not the “be all” and “end all”, and you’ve experimented with a couple of programs in Java and PHP. You’re at a point in your career where you’re not willing to let go of .NET; you’ve still got a lot you want to do with that framework. But you want to integrate your Java and PHP skills into the mix. The idea of being a manager hasn’t entered your mind yet. That’s something you’ll explore three or four years down the road.

Job Tasks:
You will join the ihoops.com and sportspower.com development team and will work to add features that will help those sites grow significantly in 2010. You will work primarily in .NET on ihoops.com, but your PHP and Java skills will come in handy when sportspower tasks take priority. You will report into a Development Manager based in King of Prussia, PA and will be peers with a few other developers. You are expected to work out of the King of Prussia office with the team. You will work within the parameters of Scrum – an Agile software development methodology that is relatively new to the rest of the team.

Skill Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science.
• 3+ years experience developing consumer-facing websites in .NET (C# preferred).
• Competence in Javascript, HTML, CSS.
• Some experience in Java or PHP a plus
• Excellent written and spoken English

Additional Requirements:

1. Send us a critique of sportspower.com or ihoops.com.
2. Show us examples of code you’ve written in any language, but C# is preferred.

Don’t let this great opportunity to work with a dynamic and energetic group of individuals pass you by, please apply now! Be sure to include salary history in your cover letter. Active Network is proud to be an EEO/AAP employer and maintains a Drug-Free Workplace.

Looking for high-level UX help!

March 9th, 2010

Location: Wynnewood, PA (but can meet up anywhere).

Hi,

We are looking for some high-level UX help on a website that we are working on.
The website facilitates the playing of online video game tournaments, the first game we are using is Counter Strike Source. There are some UX improvements we would like to make, but want some help so we get it right the first time. Additionally, we could use fresh eyes to help us see what we are overlooking. The site is www.getgosu.com (we know it’s not pretty, it was designed by programmers ;)
The internal staging site (which you can see if you have interest in helping us out) has a new skin/design that we got some help on from opensourcery out in Portland OR.
Since, we are in the Philly area, I’d like to find someone around here to help us out. This potentially could turn into part or full time work if we enjoy working together.

Cheers,

-Jordan
